Susan's Blog: My travel plans for 2024 - making up for lost time!

The pandemic brought about challenging times for us all. As someone deeply passionate about exploring new destinations and learning more about the world, the limitations imposed during this period were hard. Not only did they impact my ability to book trips for my clients, but they also restricted my own trips and travel stories.

With the recent transition to Designer Travel marking a new chapter in my journey, I'm thrilled to embrace the opportunity to make up for lost time, starting with three amazing trips lined up this year. 😊

Grenada

First on my itinerary is Grenada, the 'Island of Spice'. Despite having had the privilege to visit several Caribbean Islands, Grenada has thus far eluded me and has been on my radar for some time.

I've lined up stays at three stunning hotels: Mount Cinnamon, the brand-new Six Senses La Sagesse (opening April 2024) and Calabash Cove.

Additionally, I'm booked for lunch at Spice Island Beach Resort and will be conducting a site visit to Sandals Grenada.

The Maldives

At the end of June, Designer Travel has organised an 8-night agent educational trip to the Maldives, and I’m fortunate to be one of the lucky few selected to visit one of my bucket list destinations.

While the itinerary is yet to be finalised, I'll stay on four islands managed by Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts. I'm incredibly excited since, despite visiting Mauritius and the Seychelles, the Maldives has remained a gap in my Indian Ocean travel experiences...

United Arab Emirates

Anantara Mina Al Arab
Anantara Mina Al Arab

Back in 2020, I had planned a return trip to the UAE which unfortunately never materialised. Despite rebooking it several times only for it to be cancelled again, I decided to take a break from trying.

With some UAE Dirhams still to use up, I’ve decided to return in the autumn. As many of you know, I do like to be organised, so I’ve lined up three hotels. I’ll start with a few nights at the Oaks Ibn Battuta Gate Dubai, formerly the Movenpick Hotel. I may have to indulge in a little shopping as it’s conveniently located opposite the Ibn Battuta Mall, which I’m told is a destination in itself.

Next, I’ll head to Ras Al Khaimah to stay at the stunning 5-star Anantara Mina Al Arab, followed by a couple of nights at the Anantara Downtown before returning to the UK.

During my trips, I'll take copious notes, capture plenty of images, and even the odd video to share on my blog.

If you need me to do any research or if you'd like to plan a chat pre or post any of these trips, feel free to get in touch.
