Catherine contacted Holidaysplease over ten years ago when planning her honeymoon to Thailand and I have been organising her holidays to various destinations ever since.
I was mightily impressed that she was willing to travel solo during the pandemic and as she reported back, even with a few extra procedures to sort, it was still possible to have an enjoyable holiday...
I was exhausted and in need of a break. Travel was complicated but fortunately I have Susan to provide counsel and all the necessary reassurances.
Whilst I had been double vaccinated, my husband hadn’t and therefore couldn't fly, so I was seeking options for a short solo trip to recharge.
I chose four days by the pool at the 5-star Radisson Bluhotel in St Julian's, Malta, as the country was on the UK’s green list at the time and I wanted peace of mind; plus I had never previously been. No quarantine was required at either end, just a lateral flow test before travelling and one in Malta two days before flying back.
I was super excited to be at an airport again. Everything was very thorough - laborious but essential - and I felt very comfortable.
The hotel was a little underwhelming for a 5-star property - I would say more like a 3 to 4 star, but it was lovely and quiet. Some guests wore masks, others didn't; and there was no pressure from the staff.
The food and sights were pleasant but not as special as other locations I’ve visited such as Seville, Croatia or Italy.
Covid has felt neverending and I couldn’t face waiting up to another year before a relatively 'normal' holiday. This was a real fly and flop and still a great decision to go, especially with the quick flight and fantastic weather - it got me out of the UK but I am unlikely to visit again.
Susan was great as always, keeping in touch regularly to ensure all was ok and seeing if I had any questions however small. It’s why I only book my holidays with her.
