Amazing hotel, amazing offer: Belmond Reid’s Palace, Madeira

I have been extremely excited by the BBC’s latest series of Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby.

For those unfamiliar with the programme, presenters Monica Galetti and Giles Coren roll up their sleeves to work alongside staff in some of the most extraordinary hotels across the globe.

In episode two, they travelled to Madeira, famous for its year-round spring-like weather, to work in one of Europe’s greatest hotels, Reid’s Palace - which has been on my wish list for a while.

Giles ironed bedspreads in a suite once loved by Winston Churchill, and Monica cleaned crabs out of the historic tidal swimming pool.
